Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

I look forward to hearing from you.

Waterfall Today you are one step closer to feeling free, having peace of mind, and enjoying your life. I practice two main types of therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and am working towards Certification in Internal Family Systems (IFS).

As a Certified EMDR therapist, my goal is to help you remove blocks to your best self and lead a life that feels good. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges that may linger from the past.  Through our work, we can identify long-standing behavior patterns, beliefs, and perceptions that may be interfering with the kind of life you want.

Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) is not a therapy for Families per se.  It is a relatively new form of therapy that is compassionate, inclusive, spiritual, powerfully healing and deeply respectful of our inner life.  It is a therapy for your own internal family.  What I mean is,  IFS recognizes that our psyches are made up of different feelings, emotions, thoughts, and behaviors.  IFS calls these different things 'parts'.  It is not that you have different personalities. It is more like having different facets of your personality.  IFS recognizes the different parts or facets of our personality as our 'inner family'.  For example, 'parts/facets' of our inner family that you may recognize; might include the Inner Critic, the Abandoned Child, the Wounded Child, the Pleaser, the Angry Part, the Loving Caretaker, the Joker, and the Overeater. IFS is non-pathological.  That means there is no disorder; there is nothing wrong with you.  IFS gives you a great deal of power to change your inner family system.  IFS works with the facets of your personality to release burdens and heal wounds that have been present from childhood or later.  IFS is purported to be a fairly quick form of therapy and easy for clients to understand and relate to and highly successful.

If you're looking for support and guidance through a challenging situation or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to become the best you that you are capable of becoming.  Click here to learn more about EMDR and here to learn more about IFS.
